So many of us feel helpless in the face of the current worldwide antisemitism.
Some donate to organizations that fight antisemitism, some say Psalms, some go into combat. No matter what you do, it is clear that what the world needs now is love, normalcy and consistency.
Today, the war against antisemitism is being fought online.
Most of the content that is being posted about Israel these days is political and ideological, and frankly people are getting really worn out and tired of it.
TalkIsrael takes a completely new approach to this battle.
TalkIsrael is an organization that empowers young people to positively change the conversation about Israel using the power of social media.
TalkIsrael holds workshops for young creators of all religions and ethnic backgrounds, teaching them how to positively portray Israel through posts about their daily lives and their hobbies. Most of the content creators who've gone through their program post about food, culture, language, the beach, friends, holidays... It's about their identity. Not about politics.
Beyond the workshops, TalkIsrael provides guidance, mentorship, and support to a network of young storytellers, to help them continue to pursue their passions as a content creator.
We had worked with Elena Yacov in the past, so she came to us to produce this film for TalkIsrael. We flew to Tel Aviv to film some of their creators, as well as their official launch in Israel, for a film they presented at a fundraiser in Los Angeles.
There are many strategies we can use in the fight against antisemitism, but TalkIsrael knows that the main battle is happening on social media platforms, where the younger generations are dealing with waves of misinformation and antisemitism. What they are doing is exactly what is needed to remind people of the human life and humanity we are trying to preserve and protect in the state of Israel.
